Well, sort of! I posted in April about my BeaterBlade+ for my Kitchenaid mixer. I LOVE my BeaterBlade+…I use it all the time and it is a super-duper time-saver! Well, this morning, I was going to make a batch of Christmas cookies with the boys. I got out the butter and eggs to let them come to room temperature. I (and the boys) got impatient and we decided not to wait. I had the oldest cut up the butter with a butterknife and put it in the bowl. I attached the BeaterBlade+ and sent it whirling. Not 2 seconds later, the thing snapped off!
I cried (not really, but I really wanted to). But the boys kept asking if I was ok and what was the matter. I was truly sad though! We proceeded the “old-fashioned” way, stopping every few minutes to scrape down the bowl and got those cookies made.
I emailed customer service and told them what had happened. There is a 1-year warranty on it and since I only bought it in April, I was well within the time limit! Thinking that because it was the Holidays, I would not receive any response until at least next week, I was surprised when I received a phone call from “Pennsylvania Caller”. Expecting it to be a telemarketer, I answered the phone with the annoyed “I-don’t-have-time-for-this” voice. She said the company name, NewMetro Design, “is this Emily?”…of course I didn’t recognize the company name, so I continued in the annoyed voice…until she said that they wanted to send me the new heavy-duty version of the same BeaterBlade+…the one for “serious bakers”! She asked if 3-day UPS shipping would be fine. OF COURSE IT IS…YOU’RE SENDING ME SOMETHING FOR FREE and keeping me from having to go to the mall during the busiest time of the year to buy a new one! Then she said, “well, I could overnight it if you wanted me to.” Um, no 3-day is just fine thankyouverymuch! I then thanked her about 1200 times and wished her a Merry Christmas.
I should have said yes to the overnight, because I’m so excited!
So, a BIG GIGANTIC thank you, lady-that-I-can’t-remember-your-name-’cuz-I-thought-you-were-a-telemarketer-and-was-too-excited, and to NewMetro Design, LLC. for sending me a new and improved BeaterBlade+ so that I wouldn’t have to add it to my “Santa please RUSH this” list!

This is one of my very favorite appetizers OF.ALL.TIME! So much, in fact, that I craved them while I was preggers with my youngest and could have probably eaten a whole batch of them in one sitting! They are flakey and cheesey and salty…yummy! These are very nice hot and fresh from the oven! The smell of these baking brings back many memories of spending Christmas with my Dad’s family. And as a Holiday treat, I’m sharing the recipe with you! It comes from my Grandmother on my Dad’s side. I’m not sure where she got the recipe from, but they sure are yummy!
Cheese Olives
1/2 lb sharp cheddar cheese, grated (about 2 cups)
1/2 cup butter
dash of Worcestershire sauce
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 (5 oz) jar of pimento-stuffed olives (normal-sized, not jumbo)
Cut together the cheese, butter and Worcestershire sauce with a pastry blender. Add the flour and salt. Wrap the olives in bits of paste (about 1 tsp), roll them into a ball and place on cookie sheets. Freeze them until hard, about 1 hour. Bake (straight from the freezer) at 425 degrees for 12 minutes and serve hot.
Notes:
1. DO NOT line your baking sheets with foil…they will stick!
2. If the ingredients are all room temperature, it works much better.
3. These freeze well, so after they are frozen on a cookie sheet, put them into zip-top bags to remove on an as-needed basis!
4. Be careful, they are addicting!
Hope everyone has a safe and happy Holidays! See you all after the new year!
