The Anatomy of a Cake is Life Cake

I get this question a lot, so I decided to provide a visual to make it better to understand!  When you order a cake from Cake is Life, your cake will be comprised of 4 layers of cake, 3 layers of filling, covered in a layer of buttercream and an optional layer of homemade white chocolate fondant.  Whether you order a party cake or a wedding cake, this is the way the inside will look…of course, your flavor choices can be different!  I have added this description in the FAQ page of the website also!  I hope this helps you picture what the inside of your cake will look like!  Enjoy!

A Plea for Help!

Construction has begun!

I know I have some very gracious and helpful followers!  I want to thank you!  Now I’m putting a plea for help!  Normally I wouldn’t do this kind of thing on this blog, as it’s about cake and what I’m about to ask is not, but I feel very strongly about this cause and I am asking for your help!  For the last year or so, I have been working on a project in our area to open a new Catholic high school.  Construction has begun and we’re set to open in the Fall of 2011 with Freshman and Sophomore classes, but we need some more money to help us bring our vision into reality!  Chase is sponsoring a “competition” for grant money.  On July 13th, 1 charity will win a grant for $200,000, 4 runners-up will receive $100,000 and 195 will receive $20,000.  I am PLEADING with my fans and followers to please go vote for our project.  Voting started on June 15th and will finish up on July 12th.  Please vote AND spread the word!  Help us build this much-needed school!  Follow the link below to vote for Father McGivney Catholic High School!  Thank you SO MUCH for your support!!!  The future students of Father McGivney Catholic High School thank you too!  You can visit www.McGivneyGriffins.com for more information!

One year ago, I launched cakeislife.com!  I’m thrilled with the outcome and wish to thank each and every one of my readers for following along!  We’ve had over 70,000 page views over the last year, 67 posts and 130 comments.  Thanks so much for a wonderful year!

WANTED!

Someone to write my business plan…oh yeah, and to invest lots and lots of money into a business that is SURE to take off…once it ever gets off the ground! {PLEASE!} :)

And on a lighter note, Mom and Dad got me an airbrushing class at the end of January!  They are going to get me an airbrush too!  Super excited!  Thanks Mom and Dad!

Hi folks!  After hemming and hawing and researching and researching…I’ve FINALLY purchased www.cakeislife.com!  For now, you can still access the blog from cakeislife.wordpress.com, but I’ll be working on a new website in the next coming weeks and it will go away.  So it would be good to change your bookmarks now so you can still access the site later!  (Don’t worry, I’ll be giving you a warning before it all happens!)

A note from management…

After much thought and consideration, I will not be taking cake orders for the following weeks:

Aug 30th-Sept. 6th (booked)
Sept. 6th-Sept. 13th (personal)
Nov. 1st-Nov. 8th (friend’s wedding)
Dec. 27th-Jan. 3rd (personal)

I will try to keep this post updated and will probably turn it into a calendar page after the next post to keep it from getting lost.

Thanks so much (and sorry if you were looking at one of those weeks for a cake!  I’d be glad to make it at a later date!

New Cake Flavor

Just an announcement to say that I’ve successfully tested a new cake recipe.  It will be called Mocha Speckled Cake (for right now…not really thrilled with that name!)  Anyway, it’s a super moist, very fluffy coffee-flavored cake with shaved chocolate throughout.  This is the cake that I tested with my Mother-in-Law’s Mother’s Day Cake.  It is superbly yummy with chocolate buttercream, although I’m sure it would be just as yummy with white buttercream also!  I wish I would have gotten a better picture!
