Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’

This cake was requested by a bride as a surprise for her groom. It was fun to try and sculpt a cake to look like a tire!   The bride was so sweet that she took time out after her rehearsal was over to call me and thank me for the cake.  Thank you, Jennifer, for letting me be a part of your special occasion!

This cake was absolutely fantastic! It tasted great and exceeded my expectations! Thanks so much! ~ Jennifer

Graduation Cakes and Some Strays

So this has been a SUPER busy week.  These are only 2 of 4 cakes this week (and a bonus one I haven’t had a chance to upload yet until now).  I’ll upload the rest later this weekend!

Preschool Graduation Cake

Preschool Graduation Cake

The first one is one that I was asked to make for my son’s preschool graduation.  I had a lot of fun making it, although I’m going to have to try to figure out what is wrong with the black ink on my edible image printer, because all of the writing ended up having to be hand-painted on…and I don’t write straight, much less paint words straight!  I’m happy with how it turned out and everyone seemed to be enjoying it!  Congrats, Ben…you’re going to LOVE kindergarten!

Purple Polka Dotted Grad Cake

Purple Polka Dotted Grad Cake

This cake was for a local grad.  The school colors were purple and white…yes, that’s purple…for some reason, that color doesn’t photograph well…perhaps it’s the cloudy day!  Congratulations, Jordan!

Wizard of Oz Cake v.2

Wizard of Oz Cake v.2

Normally, when someone asks me to do a cake from my gallery, I like to change it up a little (or reinvent the wheel).  I LOVE the design of this cake, so I really didn’t want to do anything major to change it.  I did do a few minor things, but mainly it’s the same!  Happiest of Fifth Birthdays to you Jewel!

Playing Catch-up

Okay, I’m a few cakes behind and I have another two I’m currently working on.

The first cake was for a mother’s birthday.  It happened to be Mother’s day weekend.  The family didn’t want to focus on how old their mom was, but who she is to the people in her family…hence the flowers with the names written on them.  The cupcakes went with the cake.

Graduation Cap Cake

The second cake was for a graduation celebration at my husband’s work.  Three of his co-workers were graduating.

Homer Simpson Postage Stamp Groom’s Cake

Homer Simpson Groom's Cake

This cake was for a rehearsal dinner last night.  The groom loves the Simpsons, so his mom requested the cake as a surprise.  I love the way it turned out!  I got to use my airbrush again, so that was fun!  And I created a stencil for the first time for Homer’s face.

Best wishes to the bride and groom…today is their wedding day!  Hopefully the rain will hold off!  Congratulations!

How-to will follow on how to clean up black food coloring from white fondant!

Just had to let you know right away that your cake was totally awesome.  Our son was excited about it – all  his friends, also.  Lots of pictures were taken—it was delicious and picture perfect.  We gave your web site address to lots of people.  Thanks again, you are very talented. ~Betty

The Cake That Almost Was…

Movie-Themed Cake

Movie-Themed Cake

Back in August, I was contacted by a school to make a cake for their fundraising auction. Over the last several months, we’ve emailed back and forth to come up with the perfect cake for their event. I spent a few hours designing it, several hours in the last week getting the decorations finished so they had time to dry, a few hours baking, and then several more hours decorating the cake. When I left to deliver it, it looked like the above.

Sunny and Chica

Sunny & Chica Cakes

Sunny & Chica Cakes

Remember the twins?  Here are their baby shower cakes, one and two.  And their christening cake.  Well, they just turned ONE!  They are in love with the chicken from the Sprout Network, Chica…so Chicas they got!  And the sun, well I’ve decided to call him Sunny!

Happy Birthday, Alexis!  Happy Birthday, Kendall!  May you have many, many more birthdays! :)

Wine Box Cake {UPDATED}

Wine Box Cake

Wine Box Cake

This cake was made for a donation to a fundraising event for our school. The event was a wine tasting and it was to be a part of a raffle. This cake was a difficult one for me, not because the cake was difficult, but because I ended up having to bake it twice…at 2 AM. There was a mini mental breakdown at 4AM and after a few hours of sleep and the help of my sister, who watched the kids for a few hours, I was able to focus and knock it out. I would have taken pictures, but I REALLY would rather NOT remember it!

Emily, everyone loved your cake. A friend of Mrs. Shannon’s won it and is going out of town so she gave it to the teachers. They are all in for a wonderful treat Monday!!!! ~ Kathy

UPDATED 04/12/2010:  I found out last yesterday that this cake was won by a woman who turned around and donated it to the teachers at the school to enjoy!  I think that’s very sweet and I hope they all enjoyed it today!

Happy 2010!

And I know I’m a few days late, but I hope everyone’s 2010 is better than their 2009!

Lego Birthday

I’m so thrilled with how this cake turned out!  I only wish that I would have gotten a side picture!  The cake was a 6″ square block with a 6″x3″ rectangle block on top.

Happy 9th Birthday, Matthew!

Bowling, Birthday & Bishop

Bowling Birthday Cake

Bowling Birthday Cake

This cake was ordered by a wife for the surprise birthday to celebrate the 30th birthday and a 300 game for her husband.  This cake was fun to make and also the first time I’ve used an airbrush!

Emily makes the most amazing cakes around. She made the bowling cake for my husbands 30th birthday party and it was a hit (picture on website.) Many of the Birthday guest asked for her contact info and have used her for more than one cake. I truly believe she can make any cake idea into reality. You dream it and she creates it. ~ Bethany

Cake for the Bishop

Cake for the Bishop

Dad asked me to make a cake for his Church.  Their bishop was coming to their Church for a visit.  The fondant cutout was NOT as easy as it looks!
