Happy Birthday, Jackson!

This is a cake I did today for the brother of the girl who got the princess cake!  This cake was a challenge, but I really like the result!

Book Club Cake

This cake was for my Grandma and her book club.  They were reading their 400th book since the beginning of the club…so Grandma thought it would be appropriate to have cake…I agree! :)

Caroline’s First Communion

Today is my youngest cousin’s First Communion.  My aunt asked me to make a cake (with white and pink).  Here’s what I came up with…

Caroline's First Communion Cake

The cake is chocolate and has a coconut filling and is iced in coconut buttercream.  The roses are buttercream and the white decorations are made out of gumpaste and then dusted with a white luster dust.  This is one of the rare opportunities that I’ll get to actually enjoy  one of the cakes!  This flavor combo was designed by the young lady…it may end up on the flavors list later today!

God bless you, Caroline on your Holy day!

Wedding Shower Cakes

As promised, here are the finished cake pictures!  These are for a wedding shower.

Easter/Birthday Cake

Easter/Birthday Cake

I’m taking this cake to our 6th Annual Joellenbeck Easter Egg Hunt today!  It’s doubling as a birthday cake.  It’s a yellow cake on the bottom and a chocolate cake on top.  It’s iced in buttercream, gumpaste daisies and sign, fondant bunny and fence, and the Easter eggs are made from white modeling chocolate.

I hope your families have a truely Happy Easter!

Use-It-Ups

So, my newly-found chocolate cake recipe is not easily divided in half.  I only needed 1/2 of a recipe of it today, so I made the rest of the batter into cupcakes.  I also had a little bit of fondant left from a few of my recent cakes, so I decorated the cupcakes with the leftovers.  I think they turned out pretty cute!  We’ll be taking them to my husband’s parents’ house tomorrow for dinner (well, for after dinner).
