Homer Simpson Postage Stamp Groom’s Cake

Homer Simpson Groom's Cake

Homer Simpson Groom's Cake

This cake was for a rehearsal dinner last night.  The groom loves the Simpsons, so his mom requested the cake as a surprise.  I love the way it turned out!  I got to use my airbrush again, so that was fun!  And I created a stencil for the first time for Homer’s face.

Best wishes to the bride and groom…today is their wedding day!  Hopefully the rain will hold off!  Congratulations!

How-to will follow on how to clean up black food coloring from white fondant!

Just had to let you know right away that your cake was totally awesome.  Our son was excited about it – all  his friends, also.  Lots of pictures were taken—it was delicious and picture perfect.  We gave your web site address to lots of people.  Thanks again, you are very talented. ~Betty

Sunny & Chica Cakes

Remember the twins?  Here are their baby shower cakes, one and two.  And their christening cake.  Well, they just turned ONE!  They are in love with the chicken from the Sprout Network, Chica…so Chicas they got!  And the sun, well I’ve decided to call him Sunny!

Happy Birthday, Alexis!  Happy Birthday, Kendall!  May you have many, many more birthdays! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Gobble...Gobble!

Gobble...Gobble!

Thank you to all my loyal followers and occasional visitors to the blog!  I appreciate your comments and am thankful for your visits!  In less than a year, you have helped my blog reach 50,000 page views (only 135 more needed as of posting this)!  Thank you to all of my customers who have ordered cakes too!  You are helping to put my son through Catholic Grade School and for that, I am eternally grateful!  Thank you to everyone who has given me feedback…you have helped make Cake is Life a better business with better cakes!

A Baptism, Some Birthdays & an Anniversary

The first cake was for my husband’s cousin’s daughter’s baptism (whew!).  It was a fun cake and I enjoyed testing out some new ways to do things!

The second two cakes were ordered by my Dad for an October birthday party at his work.  I really enjoyed going back to the Wilton-flower roots, as this is my 1-year anniversary month for when I first started taking classes.  It was then that I realized how much I truly enjoyed decorating and creating cakes!  So, Thanks Dad!

Birthdays…

The sunflower cake was done about a week ago for my very best girly friend’s birthday.  That cake smelled GOOOOOD!

The Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup cake was for a 6-year old’s birthday…good thing his name started with an “r”…really made the top easy!

And these are a few of my favorite things…

Fall is my favorite season!  I love the weather, the colors, the smells in the air, the crispness before winter hits…I love it all.  So when I was asked to do a fall-themed cake, I was super excited.  The bride had lots of ideas, so we combined them all together into this cake.  Every tier was a different flavor and three side cakes were ordered with it, all serving 360 people!  It was one big cake!

Calla Lilies

Orange Calla Lilies

These callas were made for a wedding cake that, unfortunately ( :) ) I’m not making!  A tip for setting the color in your flowers and allowing them to have some shine to them is to LIGHTLY steam them.  I just use my regular old iron, set it on the steam setting, wait for it to heat up and then give them a few little blasts with the steam button…works great!

Birthday Cake and Building Blocks

Yesterday, we had a baby shower and a birthday party all rolled into one day!  The baby shower was for my husband’s cousin and the birthday party was for my niece and my two boys.  Both parties were fun and I’m VERY thankful everyone decided to have them in doors, because it was ONE HOT DAY yesterday!

Farm-Themed Cake

These cakes were ordered by a woman from our church. Her daughter and nephew are turning 1 and a second nephew is turning 2.

Happy Birthday to Dia, Charlie and Sam!

This cake really set the theme for my daughter’s and nephews’ farm birthday party! But, most of all, everyone RAVED about how delicious both cakes were — one was chocolate with raspberry filling, and the other was yellow with lemon curd filling — moist and DELICIOUS! ~Diane

Wedding Shower Cakes

As promised, here are the finished cake pictures!  These are for a wedding shower.
