September’s Birthday Cakes

FINALLY, a blog post…with content and pictures!! Don’t fall off your chairs, folks…I know it’s been a while! I’ve decided that instead of doing separate posts for each cake, that I would group them into categories! I’ll start off with the birthday cakes from the month of September (and a few from the end of August too!).

***Click on each of the pictures for a description of the cakes!***

Flowers & Butterflies

Butterflies & Flowers 1st Birthday Cake

I LOVE girly cakes!  This one was based off the plates for the party (Hugs N Stitches).  I love the colors!  This is the first time I’ve done a stacked buttercream cake without borders and I LOVE the way it came out…very clean!

Playing Catch-up

Okay, I’m a few cakes behind and I have another two I’m currently working on.

The first cake was for a mother’s birthday.  It happened to be Mother’s day weekend.  The family didn’t want to focus on how old their mom was, but who she is to the people in her family…hence the flowers with the names written on them.  The cupcakes went with the cake.

The second cake was for a graduation celebration at my husband’s work.  Three of his co-workers were graduating.

Gift Box Wedding Cake

The “cake gods” were smiling on me today!  I made an almost-last-minute decision to deliver this cake in pieces and assemble on-site.  Boy am I glad I made that decision!  The roads to get to the venue were windy, hilly, pot-holey and SUPER bumpy!  I’m 100% positive that had I stacked it, it would either not have made it, or I would still be trying to drive it there…very, very slowly!  The beautiful bride is a cousin of a few of my cousins and she chose a GORGEOUS place to be married!  The venue was almost out in the woods and had lots of windows viewing the surrounding trees.  I wish I would have taken some pictures, but guest were starting to arrive as I finished.

Congratulations, Michelle and David!  May you have many, many happy years together!  It was a real pleasure working with you to create your special cake!

Simple Girly Birthday Cake

Simple Girly Birthday Cake

Another cake from this weekend…this was a very simple, small cake that I made for a birthday party.  It was made to look like the party ware.

Emily ~ I just wanted to email you and tell you how absolutely adorable and wonderful the cake was for my sister’s party.  Everyone could not stop talking about it.  I was so excited about it I almost did wait until present time to show it off.  It also tasted as good as it looked.   I just cannot say enough outstanding things about it.  It was perfect!  Thank you again for delivering it.  Your card is on my fridge and I have bragged to all of my friends at work how cute it was.  We will definitely be ordering in the future. ~ Jennifer

Pink is Pretty

I just love the quilted look of this cake, and the pink ribbon roses, and the little pearls, and the fluffiness of the vanilla buttercream on the cupcakes…okay, I loved it all!

Emily we loved the cake and cupcakes. Carrot was the favorite! Almost too pretty to eat! ~ Erica

I also loved delivering this cake!  The little one that was the reason for the cake had the same kind of hair that my youngest son had when he was an infant (I miss that hair!)…I’ll leave you with a bonus picture of my son when he was only a few weeks old!

Love that fluff!

50th Anniversary & 19th Birthday Cake

A combination 50th Anniversary and 19th Birthday cake.  This cake gave me fits trying to figure out how to work the two events together!  I like how it came out though!

This cake is a sample cake for an upcoming project that has the potential to keep me very busy!  I love how it turned out, but next time, the big bow will be purple!   Those cupcakes are jumbo cupcakes!  They are about twice the size of a normal cupcake!  I’m actually liking how they came out!

A Baptism, Some Birthdays & an Anniversary

The first cake was for my husband’s cousin’s daughter’s baptism (whew!).  It was a fun cake and I enjoyed testing out some new ways to do things!

The second two cakes were ordered by my Dad for an October birthday party at his work.  I really enjoyed going back to the Wilton-flower roots, as this is my 1-year anniversary month for when I first started taking classes.  It was then that I realized how much I truly enjoyed decorating and creating cakes!  So, Thanks Dad!

From the weekend!

Sorry it’s taken me a long time to post these, but this was a super busy weekend!  Along with the cakes, we had friends staying with us and my sister was throwing a House-Warming Party.

Surprises to come…so keep visiting!  One involves apples and the other pumpkins!

I’m THRILLED with how this cake turned out!  It turned out better than the vision in my head!  It was for a young lady turning 7 and it matched their party decorations perfectly!  She had a black tablecloth on the table and it really set off this cake!   Thanks for the cake referral, Doreen!
